Patent
A patent is a legal monopoly granted to an inventor or other person for a limited period of time, in exchange for the public disclosure of an invention. Patents are granted by national or regional patent offices, and provide the holder with the exclusive right to prevent others from making, using, selling, or importing the patented invention without permission.
There are several different types of patents that can be granted, including utility patents, which cover new and useful inventions or discoveries, and design patents, which cover new, original, and ornamental designs for an article of manufacture.
To be eligible for a patent, an invention must be new, non-obvious, and useful. In order to obtain a patent, an inventor must apply for a patent and provide a detailed description of the invention, as well as any relevant drawings or other supporting materials. The patent application is then reviewed by a patent office to determine whether the invention meets the necessary criteria for a patent.
Overall, patents are an important tool for protecting the intellectual property rights of inventors and other innovators, and are widely used to encourage innovation and the development of new technologies.
